Tariq Ballard

Drummer and percussionist Tariq Ballard began his music journey at 13 years old as a bongo/conga player at his home church, Gospel Mission Ministries, Inc (G.M.M.I.). Bishop Richard W. Curtis Sr., Senior Pastor of G.M.M.I., recognized Tariq’s musical gift and
encouraged him to learn how to play the drums.

With Bishop Curtis’s encouragement, Tariq began to devote himself to playing the drums. Over the years, Tariq learned to play various musical genres such as: Pop, Rock, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Rhythm & Blues, and Afro-Cuban rhythmic styles. At 25 years old, Tariq received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry and Technology from Mercy College. It was during this time that Tariq co-engineered his first Gospel Album, entitled Brand New with International Singer/Songwriting group, The Richard Curtis Singers.

Over the years, Tariq has performed at the Dimmena Center and Rockwood Music Hall. Artists include, LoRen, GeshieX, Chris Range and more.
