Basma Sheea

Basma Sheea came to New York City with her single mother at the age of 7 from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Not knowing how to speak English, she quickly turned to television, specifically music to assimilate into American culture. Learning each and every word of Hilary Duff's songs by heart, she found that her songs were quite inspirational.

Her family moved around the Tri-State area before settling down in the Bronx for Basma to attend Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as a vocal major. She learned classical opera at her school while learning Bengali folk songs at home. She consistently performed for Bangladeshi cultural events in Queens, such as the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA), and appeared on international TV channels like NTV and TBN.

Basma Sheea graduated from City College of New York in June 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Atmospheric Science. She soon started teaching and focused on her music and R&B/Pop songwriting skills. She believes everyone has a voice to share and with the right guidance and mindset anything can be accomplished.
